“DSM-V Diagnostics” with Laura Langner

Participants will gain an understanding of the evolution of the DSM system with a particular focus on changes from DSM-IV to 5; this is accomplished with an overview of its three major components, changes to existing diagnosis and the addition of new disorders.

 

Participants will learn about the International Classification of Diseases (ICD), and it’s relationship to DSM-5; this is accomplished through practice classifying mental disorders and discussion of at least 2 implications of the ICD and DSM in clinical practice.

 

Participants will learn how these changes will likely impact mental health professionals in their day to day practice; this is accomplished with a review of the removal of axes, defining of developmental life-span, and the practice of DSM-5 selection in diagnosing.
